Stupid, stupid science reporters!

Check out this bit, widely reported in the science press. It's a study demonstrating that revenge activates the caudate nucleus in the brain, which helps you experience pleasure or satisfaction. This study is "important" because it "provides support" for the idea of altruistic revenge. The study involved a basic revenge game, where players can choose to punish or not punish another player for an act of betrayal. Wow, can you imagine, they found that anticipation of revenge is connected to pleasure.
The very idea that emotions, not cold-calculated reason, are driving revenge is a novel one, Knutson said.
Why, science reporters, why? Why do you cover such stupidity? Why do you give these clowns attention?

UPDATE: This, on the other hand, is fucking amazing stuff.
