Puzzle!

I wrote a puzzle out of boredom. I had the idea while sitting in floor meeting yesterday (which is good ground for the mind to wander in). It's an MIT Mystery Hunt-style puzzle - the answer is a single word.

What is floor meeting?

My instinct when faced with these things is to curl up in a little ball and hide in the bed. (It's quite astonishing that I got through college, really.) I'm not even going to attempt to puzzle it out now. But I will pass it on.

the leftmost image on the second row makes me think of a pterosaur.

Aw, come on, not a single hint? Like, "By the way, those text strings are just to screw with you; they don't mean anything."?

Floor meeting is like lab meeting for the entire floor, which consists mostly of mouse geneticists. This one was actually relatively interesting, about using small molecules to inhibit proteins instead of doing gene knock-outs. But it's only interesting in the abstract - once you start talking about the actual proteins and experiments, it quickly becomes far more boring than its worth, even for the plateful of brownies they use to entice you into coming.

Some of the images are more revealing than others. I think, anyway. But there's that whole gestalt post-facto seeing-the-forest-for-the-trees business going on in my case, since I made the damn puzzle.

Everything in the puzzle is there for a reason. The title is a hint. I'll tell you that the grid layout is unimportant.

Oh, that sounds like a seminar . . .mmmm, brownies. I miss the food at lab-meetings and lab-parties. Oh man, the gazpacho. Mmm.

Isnt' that what most drugs are?
